Inside The Miracles Of Jesus

by Jessica LaGrone, Inside The Miracles Of Jesus Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Inside The Miracles Of Jesus books, Jesus demonstrated the presence and power of God by performing miracles. He turned water into wine, healed the sick, calmed the storm, opened blind eyes, and raised the dead. While these beloved stories draw our attention to divine power, Christ’s miracles signify something deeper—they’re windows into God’s grand story of human desperation and redemption. Every time we see Jesus performing a miracle, we also get a glimpse into the gift of desperation, a gift that opens us to the dramatic power of God through our desperate need for him. By explaining the meaning and significance of these miracles, Jessica LaGrone shows us their relevance for our lives today. She unpacks how understanding the meaning of Christ’s miracles will help us better grasp the salvation God has brought into the world, see that our weakness is an invitation for God to work powerfully in our lives, and remind us that we need God on our best days just as much as we do on our worst.

The Discourse Of Desperation

by Ivor Timmis, The Discourse Of Desperation Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download The Discourse Of Desperation books, This book discusses how the poor and desperate in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries mobilised their linguistic resources in pursuit of vital pragmatic goals, drawing on three corpora of letters written by the poor. The main question addressed by the book is, ‘How were the poor, often armed only with low levels of education and literacy, able to meet the challenge of writing letters vital to their interests, even to their survival?’ Timmis argues that the answer lies in the highly strategic approach adopted by the writers, particularly evident in the way formulaic language is used in the pauper and prisoner letters. Formulaic language supports the writers in producing intelligible letters in what they consider an appropriate tone but also allows them to exploit popular cultural motifs of the time. Data is drawn from three sources: pauper letters by the poor applying for parish relief, from around 1795 to 1834; prisoner letters by women awaiting deportation to Australia for defrauding the Bank of England in the early nineteenth century; and anonymous letters by the poor demanding money with menaces. Comparison with the Mayhew Corpus of interviews with the London poor in the 1850s reinforces the idea that part of the writers’ approach was to orient away from the vernacular towards a style they perceived to be more elevated. Showing how resourceful people can be in communicating their needs in crises and in turn surfacing new insights into literacy and demotic language awareness, this book will be of interest to students and scholars in corpus linguistics and social history.

Deep Clearing Releasing The Power Of Your Mind

by Rolf Dane, Deep Clearing Releasing The Power Of Your Mind Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Deep Clearing Releasing The Power Of Your Mind books, Second expanded edition. DEEP Clearing builds on the age-old model of head, heart and hand: we have a mental side, an emotional side and a body- and action side. A basic principle in DEEP is that emotional charge, stress and trauma persists when there is a conflict between diverging forces and views. That a collision can result in emotional charge is of course well-known. That the same 'collision' in session can be re-experienced from own point of view as well as from the opponent's is new. The client in a DEEP session will be enabled to see the 'collision' in detail from both sides. You are enabled to see the three elements of thought, emotion and body on each side and thus fully dissolve the original resistive recordings. The scars from the painful experiences disappear. The book is a step-by-step manual in putting these theories to the test. DEEP Clearing contains all the instructions needed to perform a DEEP Clearing session.

An Archaeology Of Desperation

by Kelly J. Dixon, An Archaeology Of Desperation Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download An Archaeology Of Desperation books, The Donner Party is almost inextricably linked with cannibalism. In truth, we know remarkably little about what actually happened to the starving travelers stranded in the Sierra Nevada in the winter of 1846–47. Combining the approaches of history, ethnohistory, archaeology, bioarchaeology, and social anthropology, this innovative look at the Donner Party’s experience at the Alder Creek Camp offers insights into many long-unsolved mysteries. Centered on archaeological investigations in the summers of 2003 and 2004 near Truckee, California, the book includes detailed analyses of artifacts and bones that suggest what life was like in this survival camp. Microscopic investigations of tiny bone fragments reveal butchery scars and microstructure that illuminate what the Donner families may have eaten before the final days of desperation, how they prepared what served as food, and whether they actually butchered and ate their deceased companions. The contributors reassess old data with new analytic techniques and, by examining both physical evidence and oral testimony from observers and survivors, add new dimensions to the historical narrative. The authors’ integration of a variety of approaches—including narratives of the Washoe Indians who observed the Donner Party—destroys some myths, deconstructs much of the folklore about the stranded party, and demonstrates that novel approaches can shed new light on events we thought we understood.
